ABOUT THE ARTIST

My career began in a local New Jersey salon.  After a chance meeting with an old friend, an opportunity arose for me to work on Broadway, which I eagerly accepted.  It wasn't long before I proved my talent and flair for hairstyling and have since worked on several productions.

had a taste for the finer things in life, and my signature "blinging" of my styling tools made them an instant hit backstage. This led me to develop DKOYE: The Product.  By incorporating flair with top of the line hair care products, I created a product that everyone could have, and be able to enjoy the same luxuries as the celebrities he styles.

I also designs hair and make-up for off-Broadway, regional, and theatrical school productions.  I have worked on shows such as Miss Abigail's Guide to Dating, Mating, and Marriage starring Eve Plumb (Jan Brady from The Brady Bunch), Error of the Moon, The Sea Gull, Tommy, Curtains, Guys and Dolls, Les Miserables, Cats, Jekyll and Hyde, Is He Dead, and Hairspray.  In 2011, I was awarded the Connecticut High School Musical Theater Award for Outstanding Hair and Make-up for my work on Hairspray and have again been nominated in 2012.

On the small screen, I can be found working on shows such as Person of Interest, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, serving as a personal hairstylist to Jeff Goldblum and Saffron Burrows, among others.  I have also styled Project Runway's Heidi Klum, TV's Alice Jenning, Three's Company's Joyce DeWitt, Florence Henderson of Brady Bunch fame, Lucy Liu, and Lea Michelle.  Soap legend Susan Lucci has been in my chair, as well as soap stars Bobbie Eakes, Anthony Geary, Kristen Alderson, Melissa Archer, Florencia Lozano, and Brittany Underwood.  Kirsten Wyatt, Karen Olivo, Mandy Gonzalez, and Will Swenson have been styled by my tools, and vocalists Seal, Diana DeGarmo, and Ace Young have as well.

I believe in the power of one and giving back to the community.  As such, I volunteer as the hair and wig coordinator for Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS annual benefit Broadway Bares (BCEFA) to help fight AIDS.  I donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of my product line to BCEFA every year.

Currently, I am promoting the sale of my book, Broadway Magic Design Workshop, by teaching seminars in the greater New York City area, and nationally.  For more information about my products, visit www.dkoye.com.

My resumé includes Leap of Faith, Follies, Book of Mormon, Spring Awakening, Chicago, Jersey Boys, Curtains, Patti LuPone in the revival of Gypsy, Hair, Rock of Ages, and Mary Poppins. In 2010, I traveled to London to set up the West End production of the recent revival of Hair.   While working on Broadway, I found that his celebrity clientele
